1930 Siler City Sanborn Maps
Below you will find all six sheets that compose the 1930 Sanborn maps for Siler City.
Sheet 1 - Depicts East Raleigh Street including Siler City High School, Joseph Jenkins house, Gregson-Hadley house, & the Hadley-Gregson house. This map also includes an inset showing Hadley-Peoples Mfg. and several homes in the mill village.
Sheet 2 - Depicts the core business district along Chatham Ave (formerly South Fayetteville & North Greensboro). Locations depicted include Grove Park Hotel (formerly Guthrie House), the First Methodist Church, Siler City Ice & Coal Co., Green Hart Hotel (formerly Hotel Hadley), Oval Oak Mfg. Co., and more.
Sheet 3 - Depicts residences along North Dogwood Ave (formerly Hill Ave), West Third Street (formerly Boling), North Evergreen Ave (formerly Glen), West Fourth Street (formerly Henry), West Fifth Street (formerly Samuel), & North Fir Ave (formerly Brown). A couple of locations of note on this sheet are the Chatham Hosiery Mills building & the Siler Graded School (Henry Siler School). This sheet also has an inset depicting three businesses on South Chatham Ave (formerly South Fayetteville) Chatham Sash & Door Co., William - Brower Co. Inc., and Farmers Gin Co.
Sheet 4 - This sheet depicts the area surrounding the railroad tracks and West Third Street (formerly Boling & Mclean). Places of note include Siler City Mills, a portion of the High Point Bending Chair Co. property, and the R.F. Huddleston Planing Mill.
Sheet 5 - This sheet depicts the intersection of East Third Street (formerly Mclean) and North Second Avenue (formerly Matthews). Places of note include the First Baptist Church, the old Siler City municipal building, and the Chatham Inn (Hotel Chatham). This sheet does have an inset depicting the residences around South Third Ave (formerly Jordan), South Second Ave (formerly Matthews), East Elk Street (formerly Sewell), and East Dolphin Street (formerly High School Ave).
Sheet 6 - This sheet depicts the areas and residences around West Fourth Street (formerly Carter), West Fifth Street (formerly Hannah), and East Sixth Street (formerly Coble) between North Chatham Ave (formerly Greensboro) and North Third Ave (formerly Jordan). This sheet depicts the northern portion of the High Point Bending & Chair Co. This sheet does contain a small inset depicting the Siler City Water Works.
